Laissez les bons temps rouler at JAMNOLA this carnival season! Now through February 21, the Marigny cultural funhouse celebrates Mardi Gras traditions, legends, and krewes. The limited-time experience features carnival culture with over-the-top installations from new and current JAMNOLA artists. From tributes to the late Big Chief Tootie Montana of the Yellow Pocahontas and “Mr. Mardi Gras” Blaine Kern Sr. to a costume closet featuring a shrine to Mardi Gras krewes, this is one carnival celebration you won’t want to miss. Our favorite local coffee company continues its expansion with the opening of a café in Mandeville, LA. Patrons can enjoy Grand Opening festivities with free coffee (while supplies last), PJ’s swag, and giveaways on Friday, February 12 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The coffee brand has seen incredible growth, now operating 136 stores, including four international locations, and plans to operate more than 250 stores by the end of 2022. Preservation Hall Foundation unveiled Preservation Hall Lessons, a free series of online music lessons for K-12 students co-created by the Foundation and members of the Preservation Hall community of musicians. Designed for teacher utilization in either a digital classroom or in-person, the lessons include content focused on introductory and advanced techniques for the range of instruments in a traditional jazz band, stylistic tips, and the cultural historical context of New Orleans music.
Congrats to the team at Palmisano for hiring its first-ever Innovation Leader. Emerging technology executive, Josh Webb joins the New Orleans-based construction company and will oversee strategic innovation, new technology adoptions, and a burgeoning data analytics practice. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Palmisano has added 38 jobs, completed 9 major projects, and was awarded $92MM of new commercial work and $24MM of new civil work.
