Client Spotlight: The Helis Foundation

While many of our beloved art and cultural institutions across the city still have their doors closed to the public, they haven’t stopped serving their communities by ensuring that art remains accessible. For years, The Helis Foundation, a local Louisiana foundation that aims to advance access to the arts and continue a family legacy of philanthropic support to the New Orleans community, has been funding “free days” at several institutions across the city.

On a specific day each week, Louisiana residents can attend the institution for free! The campaign is called Art for All, and The Helis Foundation and the institutions wanted to ensure everyone could still access content for free, even during social distancing, via their phones and computers.

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans Museum of Art, Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans Botanical Garden, Louisiana Children’s Museum, and the Poydras Corridor Sculpture Exhibition are all on the list of arts and culture institutions offering free web content. The online offerings include everything from virtual tours to educational videos and inspiring music. Find a compilation of offerings from the Art for All partners on The Helis Foundation’s website.

Jessie Haynes, Managing Director of The Helis Foundation, recently spoke with WWNO about what Art for All institutions are providing. Listen to her interview here, and check out the full list of resources here to bring all the culture, education, and joy New Orleans museums have to offer into your very own living room.
