Last Minute Shopping Guide for Greater New Orleans
The holiday shopping season is swiftly coming to a close and if you’re like me, you’ve spent too many hours watching cheesy Hallmark movies and not enough time finding gifts for family and friends. Here’s a gift guide featuring a few of our clients who can help wrap up your Christmas list:
My boyfriend’s extended family is a BIG board game family—every time we visit them in Utah we cycle through at least five different games by the end of our stay. If your family is anything like his, Little Pnuts Toy Shoppe has got you covered this holiday season with an entire wall dedicated to board games for every age. Games like What Do You Meme? and Hot Seat would make a great addition to any adult White Elephant Party, and gifting a preteen their first edition of Settlers of Catan game is truly magical tradition.
Of course, you can’t go to a toy store without picking something up for the little ones in the family. My younger cousin is obsessed with anything superhero-related and inspiring creative minds with a Design Your Own Superhero Cape Kit will definitely be a big hit.
It’s been a running joke in my family that the men wear their jeans until they’re practically rags. The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk offers tons of denim options for all body types, and the new Levi’s store is the perfect place to stock up on my boyfriend’s favorite jeans for the new year.
Whenever we’re traveling up north, my boyfriend and I love to bring little samples of iconic New Orleans cuisine as hostess gifts. Last year we gifted bottles of Crystal hot sauce (always a big hit), but this year we’re branching out with an old classic, Café du Monde’s Coffee and Chicory. If you’re looking to enjoy some beignets and coffee away from the wet cold of a New Orleans winter, the Outlet Collection’s indoor Café du Monde is a great place to pick something up for out-of-town family and friends.
My family always treasures gifts with good form and function above all else. Simplee Gourmet, a Covington-based kitchen boutique located in South Market District, offers an incredible array of serving pieces and cookware to fit any kitchen’s style. Help out a holiday party potluck host by picking out a beautiful Beatriz Ball serving dish and filling it with delicious goodies.
If your Levi’s jeans still feel a little bit tight from Thanksgiving, check out HighPower Nola and sign yourself and a friend up for an unlimited week of yoga. The new year is just around the corner, and there’s no time like the present to start accomplishing your fitness goals with a friend.
If someone on your list is wishing for something sparkly this Christmas, check out the Porter Lyons “PL Mirror House” pop-up store on Magazine Street. Half art gallery, half designer jewelry house, this completely mirrored tiny house is meant to represent its wares as a true reflection of the wearer’s personality. While you’re there, pick up this stunning serotonin necklace from Porter Lyons’ Pharmacy collection for the science enthusiast in your family.
After a marathon day of shopping across the city, don’t feel guilty about indulging yourself a bit this holiday season. Sit down and relax with good friends, food and cocktails at my new favorite spot in the city, Cavan. I fell in love with their Cocktail St. Pierre this year and their Reveillon menu is to die for.
We hope that this guide inspires you to conquer that last bit of your shopping list this week. We at Bond Moroch wish you a happy holiday season and a wonderful new year!
